What you can expect to gain

The work of Julia Sattout, Lawyer, Artist and student of David Newman-White

Students to David Newman-Whites classes come from a wide range of demographic backgrounds and artistic experience. Some are already accomplished artists, wishing to further their skills; perhaps to the point where earning a living from their art becomes a possible dream.

At the other end of the spectrum are students with little prior experience.  Indeed many of David’s students over the years have had no prior experience of figure drawing whatsoever. Newcomers to drawing are often assailed by self-doubt: “what if I have no talent?” “Will I be judged an artistic failure?”

If you are having these feelings be assured that there is no such thing as ‘no talent’ or ‘artistic failure’.

As a couple we participated in David’s portraiture workshop. We experienced David’s wonderful teaching style, a warming ambience, wholesome food; it was great fun.

Nick Hansen

I have been studying fine art with David Newman-White for eight years now, both through home tuition and also his annual Norman Lindsay workshops which are run through the Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum (National Trust) at Faulconbridge, New South Wales. During this time I have experienced growth in my drawing and painting skills. In 2008 David invited me to exhibit with him at an exhibition in Portland Oregon in the USA. I found this a great encouragement. In the same year we met up in Rome and travelled to Florence where we studied the Tuscan landscape & architecture and then travelled further to Sienna & Assisi where we studied many artists & artworks. It has been a wonderful journey working with David who is an artist with a great deal of experience and skill which he freely imparts to all of his students with the addition of encouragement and his own personal love of painting & drawing.
